As the internet evolves, more and more unique and different platforms will be developed. Those platforms have the capability to evolve into a whole new technology within themselves. Off line applications and expanded mobility are just two.
There is a whole new world - VIRTUAL world evolving called 2nd Life. Via the interent, an individual can create there own paralell world and best of all, make desired changes, including with their virtual self. They can get jobs, make virtual money to buy virtual cars and homes; marry their ideal mate - virtually.
Some have even taken this to a "real" business usage level and use their virtual business to actually conduct "real" meetings and make "real" money.
"Real" professionals today are actually making "real" money in or from this total technology world called 2nd Life. In Asia, it is not uncommon to higher a professional and pay them "real" money to advise on matters of: Interior Decorating, Event Planning (including weddings) and much much more for their virtual 2nd Life.
At times it can be confusing or hard to tell if you are in the "real" or virtual world especially when you jump back and forth between them. For example: An artist sells a "real" (digital image) piece of art that will be hung in the virtual home for "real" money and then the owner (in the virtual world/home) sells the art to another virtual person for their virtual home and gets paid in virtual money; which they can use to borrow more virtual money (w/interest) to buy a car; they can buy more virtual money with "real" money or sell their virtual money on the "real" black market today for "real" money. WOW!
They say that the "real" technology path starts in Asia, moves across Europe and then crosses the big pond to the US.
Should this technology based virtual world be on your target marketing list?
