Ohio New Hire Reporting Requirements

Ohio employers are required to report newly hired or rehired employees and contractors to the State of Ohio New Hire Reporting Center. The information collected is matched with state and national data to help collect child support and reduce fraudulent unemployment and worker’s compensation payments.
The following information must be reported for all newly hired or rehired employees who reside or work in the State of Ohio:
a. Employee’s Name
b. Employee’s Address
c. Employee’s Social Security Number
d. Employee’s Date of Birth
e. Employee’s Date of Hire
f. State in which employee works
The following information must be reported for contractors who reside or work in the State of Ohio that are not exempted from being reported on:
a. Contractor’s Name
b. Contractor’s Address
c. Contractor’s Social Security Number or Federal Identification Number
d. Date Payments Began to Contractor
e. Length of Time the Contractor will be Performing Services for the Employer
The following employer information must be reported:
a. Employer’s Name
b. Employer’s Address
c. Employer’s Federal Employer Identification Number
Employer’s need to report new hire or rehired workers within twenty days after hired date and contractor’s within twenty days of engagement date. Reporting can be done using New Hire Reporting form JFS 07048.
