Lance Traves, CHMM

Lance is a founder and President of Labyrinth Management Group, Inc. (LMG), a strategic environmental, health, and safety (EHS) consulting firm.  LMG is a 2006 COSE 10 Under 10 award winner dedicated to providing businesses with strategic advice and cost-effective integrated solutions that manage EHS risks, enhance shareholder value, and increase competitive advantage. 

For more than 20 years, Lance has been providing EHS compliance assurance and strategic risk management solutions to industrial operations.  His broad experience includes conducting EHS compliance audits at more than 100 industrial plants throughout North America, preparing flexible air permits for major source industrial operations; conducting environmental due diligence assessments for industrial M&As valued at more than $4 billion, identifying innovative pollution control strategies for manufacturing operations, and evaluating reuse options for contaminated sites

Lance has served as an environmental expert in administrative and judicial proceedings on complex environmental permit and contamination issues.  He has also testified on various environmental matters to State and Local elected officials, regulatory agencies, and corporate officers.  His publications include numerous papers on environmental topics presented at technical and business conferences including "Double Due Diligence: Incorporating Strategic Environmental Management in Environmental Assessments for Industrial Mergers and Acquisitions" published in the journal Environmental Practice by Oxford University Press in December 2002.  He was also the technical editor for Chapter 6: Environmental Auditing contained in revised 2001 edition of Hazardous Waste Management, published by McGraw-Hill.

Lance is a member of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (NEOCHMM) and Northern Ohio Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association.  He holds a B.S in Ecosystems Biology and a Masters in Public Management with a concentration in Quantitative Analysis.  Lance and his family live in the historic town of Medina, Ohio.  During the summer, he can be periodically seen riding his bike to work at LMG's "Green" office building.
