Marketing strategy guidelines or template
Is there a free on line template or guidelines that I could follow when I am developing my marketing strategy, specifically with some advice/tips of areas or things to consider or incorporate?

The best marketing startegies are developed when you really take an in-depth look at your whole business. Business Growth Workshops is a fantastic way to really learn all of the steps to mapping out a marketing plan, as well as how to implement your plans in your business practices.

Although I think that all of the workshops would be beneficial to anyone developing their marketing strategy, one work shop in particular, HOW TO DEVELOP A MARKETING PLAN THAT DRIVES GROWTH, provides a step-by-step explanation of the entire planning and execution process. It will help you put your company in a position to drive your business, as well as get the most for your marketing investments.

The day-long program also features valuable "take-home" tools, such as a workbook entitled "How to develop a marketing plan that drives growth." it includes tips and resources to help develop your own marketing plan.

Registrations are currently under way for these workshops. You are able to register at www.businessgrowthworkshops.com.

Thanks - I will check into that. Another question - what do feel the top 3 mistakes are made by small business owners today in regards to marketing?

In answering your second question:

Small business owners, although they may be experts in their field or in their line of business, may not know how to go about marketing their services and products effectively. A major mistake is that they do not do any initial market research. In other words, they need to define their target markets thoroughly, and really understand the competition as well. The second mistake is that many people "blindly" follow marketing advice from sales people. For example, if the local newspaper is calling to sell them an ad, they may just buy into it on the word of the salesperson alone, without investigating all of their advertising options enough. Lastly, a major mistake small businesses make is not getting their entire sales team on the same page. If the sales staff knows how to effectively market their products, the more naturally sales will come. A wonderful salesperson who know nothing about the "widgets" that the business is selling, cannot sell to their greatest potential. The same applies to customer service staff and marketing staff as well.
