Unemployment Compensation when an employee resigns

Unemployment Compensation when an employee resigns to take another job
What are the legal and financial obligations of an employer when an employee leaves voluntarily to take a new job and is then subsequently fired from their new job? Is the first employer still obligated to pay even though the former employee resigned? If so, for what period of time are they obligated to pay and how is that payment prorated when multiple employers are serially involved?

Thanks!
