Could you work any harder? Small business owners often feel like they are working full time and getting part time results. If you are looking for increased revenues and profits and you are already working 50-60 hours per week, you may be looking for a different planning approach.
It’s time to work smarter.
My dad taught me that anything you pay attention to improves by at least 10% just by the mere fact that you are paying attention to it. We have an awesome program designed to help you become more productive and efficient. It’s about planning tomorrow today to profit sooner by doing the right steps as the next steps to successfully grow your business. In this article (PART 1) and the next (PART 2) I will share our system for your to try.
If you want to work smarter and not harder; if you want to do more with less, here’s a planning option to consider.
Are you doing the RIGHT things to move your business forward and profit sooner?
Prioritize ‘til it Hurts!
With limited support staff, many small business owners are doing most, if not all, of the financial, marketing, IT, lead generation, lead conversion, office management work. With the given number of hours in a week, are you doing enough business development work to achieve your financial goals?
Here’s a challenge to determine WHAT you are working on and how much you are focusing on the right steps to growing your business:
Profit Sooner: The Ideal Week Challenge
- Do a brain dump of all of the tasks you anticipate doing over the following week.
- Organize your tasks with overarching categories and functions, like: OFFICE WORK (EMAILS/PHONE CALLS), BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (PROSPECT CALLS) , MEETINGS/APPOINTMENTS/EVENTS, ERRANDS, PROJECTS, FITNESS, FAMILY & FRIENDS, ETC.
- List how many hours it will take to get these tasks done. Then add 25% more time to that figure to account for under-calculating the time it takes to get things done.
- Combine similar tasks. Total your task time for each major category.
- Divide your category total by your grand total to get your percentage of time spent on this category during a given week.
- Fill in the circle and list how much time you spend in each category.
Are you spending enough time in lead generation and lead conversion? Are you spending too much time in events that don’t yield the results you want and need? This review is the first step in PRIORITIZING ‘TIL IT HURTS and determining the right steps for the next steps to growing business profits.
In my next Prioritizing ‘til it Hurts to Profit Sooner article (Part 2), I will describe the NEXT STEP in the Profit Sooner program. If you have any questions or want to email me the results of your priority work, contact me at Shelley@nexstepstrategy.com.
Here’s to your success!
May you profit sooner.
