Since the start of her career, Katherine Bulava has offered public and private sector clients assistance in communications-related strategic planning, media relations, public relations and public affairs on a consulting basis.
In January 2010, Ms. Bulava made the decision to refocus her consulting activities under Cleveland-based HATHA COMMUNICATIONS, which specializes in the following types of clients: (1) political; (2) government; (3) non-profit and; (4) entrepreneurial start ups/small business.

Striving to further the client/audience relationship by acting as a catalyst, connector, champion, bridge builder, strategic integrator and facilitator, HATHA COMMUNICATIONS provides you with balanced, complete communications services focused on your needs.
HATHA COMMUNICATIONS wants to be there with you from start to finish and offers an 8 Point MAP (Media Analysis Plan) to guide you to your strategic planning success. HATHA COMMUNICATIONS services include media relations, public affairs and strategic communications, which encompasses media strategy, publicity plans, marketing/public relations strategy, crisis communications, political communications, social media strategy and development and online communications strategy. HATHA COMMUNICATIONS can also assist with events, publications and graphic design, speech writing and general writing.
In order to focus on HATHA COMMUNICATIONS, Ms. Bulava resigned from Cleveland City Council, where she had gained valuable experience serving first as a Public Relations Consultant, then as Media Relations Manager and finally as Communications Director.
Ms. Bulava has a variety of political campaign experience. In 2005, she served as Ward 13 (downtown and surrounding area) Captain for the Frank G. Jackson Cleveland Mayoral Campaign. In 2006, she was a Media Consultant for the Mike Foley for Ohio State Representative Campaign. In 2007, Ms. Bulava acted as the Communications Manager for the Cleveland Councilman Joe Santiago Campaign Against the Recall. In 2010. she was the Communications Director for the Matt Dolan for Cuyahoga County Executive Campaign and a Speech Development Consultant to the Elizabeth Harvey for the 8th District Court of Appeals Campaign.
In a volunteer capacity, Ms. Bulava has lent her professional expertise to the Slavic Village Marketing Task Force and to the Cleveland Neighborhood Development Coalition Marketing Committee. She serves as Vice President of the Board of Tremont West Development Corporation (TWDC). She has chaired the Marketing & Fund Raising Committee, the Board Development Committee and the Long Range Planning Committee. As TWDC Marketing & Fund Raising Committee Chair, she was reponsible for the organization’s annual fundraiser. Under her leadership, the 2010 Art & Cocktails fund raiser brought in more money than in previous years, while dropping ticket costs to half the price of 2009 tickets.
Prior to working with Cleveland City Council, Ms. Bulava was the news editor/reporter for the East Side Daily News and an assistant editor/reporter for the Old Brooklyn News as a consultant to the Old Brooklyn Neighborhood Development Corporation.
Ms. Bulava holds a Bachelor's in English with a minor in Creative Writing from John Carroll University and a Master's in Communications Management, a joint MA/MBA program, also completed at John Carroll University. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, the Council of Small Business Enterprises and the City Club of Cleveland, in addition to being an active Cleveland Bridge Builders Alumnus and an Alpha Sigma Nu.
