David Burge is a registered Patent Attorney. For more than 30 years has assisted independent inventors and those who operate large and small businesses in NE Ohio by patenting their inventions and registering their trademarks in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (the USPTO).

He authors articles on patent and trademark protections, coauthors the PATENTS chapters in engineering handbooks published by John Wiley & Sons, and has written all three editions of the Wiley Interscience hardback entitled Patent & Trademark Tactics & Practice.

David earned his engineering degree with Highest Honors at the University of Illinois. His law degree was earned while doing patent work in the employ of General Electric, beginning at Georgetown University, and concluding at the University of Louisville.

David's incorporated patent and trademark law firm conducts patent searches, and files and prosecutes patent applications to obtain patents in the United States and abroad. The firm files provisional patent applications for clients who understand the value of establishing an early filing date with the USPTO -- an early filing date that can benefit a follow-on utility patent application filed within a year of the provisional. The firm also registers plain and stylized forms of clients' trademarks, and secures federal trademark registrations on truly distinctive appearance features of clients' products.
