Beau Daane (30) graduated cum laude from Duke University in 2002 with a double major in French and International Relations.  Daane studied abroad in Bamako, Mali and spent his first year after Duke teaching English in Guadeloupe, French West Indies.  In 2004, Daane earned his master's in history from Cleveland State University.  A long-time advocate of land conservation, Daane is a trustee of the Western Reserve Land Conservancy, the largest merger of land conservancies in US history.  Daane is also a trustee of the Bratenahl Community Foundation.

In 2005 Daane founded Green Cardinal LLC, a sustainability-focused real estate investment company.  In 2006 and 2007, Daane was a Coro fellow at the Cleveland Foundation, the oldest and second largest community foundation in the US.  Since fall 2007, Daane has worked as the Business Recycling Specialist for Cuyahoga County's Solid Waste District.  At the District he focuses on helping business start, expand and improve recycling programs.  In addition to his work with the District, Daane worked with a Fortune 500 company on life-cycle analysis and sustainability issues.  Daane is a native Clevelander who attended University School.  In June, 2009, Daane started his MBA part-time at Case Western Reserve University.

The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District is a public agency formed in 1989 to implement the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste Management Plan and to serve the community through programs designed to promote and increase recycling.  Funding is provided by a per ton waste generation fee.  The District is governed by the Board of County Commissioners of the Solid Waste District and is advised by the Solid Waste Policy Committee.  The District's mission is to advance recycling and promote a sustainable community.
